The Certificate II in Hospitality is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in an operational capacity in the hospitality industry.
The program is designed to offer students an extensive range of modules that will prepare them for employment opportunities in a number of Hospitality areas including:
* Café Service * Bar Service * Gaming Service

This course forms part of the National Hospitality Industry Training Package and is Nationally recognised.
Future Study Opportunities
As part of the Australian Qualification Training Framework (AQTF) this Certificate is at AQF Level III. Courses are embedded within higher level qualifications to enable a seamless transition from one qualification to the next.

There are no formal entry requirements for this program.
Customisation
This course has been structured in a way to maximise employment opportunities for graduates. With students completing more than the minimum number of units required for the certificate qualification.
Award
Upon successful completion of all units of competence students will be issued with a Certificate II. Should a student not complete the entire course then a Statement of Attainment will be issued for the completed units.
Assessment
Assessment in this course is competency based, that is, students will be required to demonstrate competency in each of a range of criteria. The assessment coding which will apply is either C (competent) or NYC (not yet competent).
Assessments may include, but not be limited to: on the job observations, projects, practical tasks, essays, research assignments, examinations and, short presentations.
Delivery Modes
A range of delivery modes will be used for this program and may include: face-to-face structured sessions, workshops, demonstrations and presentations, on and off-the-job tasks and practical activities.
Industry Placement
Industry placement is a compulsory component of the course a Certificate II you will need to complete 12 service periods – in various spots in the RSL ie Gaming, Bar and Cafe
Resources
Ignite Education provides all physical and human resources required to meet the learning needs of students and the effective delivery of the program. The College has a library available for the use of all enrolled students.
Teaching Staff
All trainers who deliver units as part of this program meet the requirements as outlined in the AQTF 2007 standards and have extensive hospitality and teaching experience, ensuring that students receive the best possible training.
Monitoring and Evaluation of Outcomes
A student’s progress is monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure they are achieving the desired learning outcomes.
Learning Support
The College provides a range of learning support services to students including: literacy, numeracy and study skills assistance.
All students are encouraged to undertake literacy and numeracy assessment upon enrolment to identify any support needs prior to commencing study.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Ignite Education recognises that competencies can be achieved in a number of ways:

Students who can demonstrate that they are already competent in the knowledge and skills of a unit of competency, to the standard defined in the assessment criteria, may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning.
Social Justice/Access and Equity Principles
The College aims to ensure that all clients have access to appropriate training, facilities and support services and be treated in a fair and equitable manner. It is the responsibility of all staff and students to ensure that Access and Equity principles are applied at all times.
Occupational Health and Safety (OH & S)
The College has an obligation to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, students and visitors. Students are advised of their OH & S responsibilities and College-specific policies at their first class.
Where training is conducted in Industry locations, trainers have an obligation to report any hazards or breaches of OH&S practices to the duty manager.
Fee Policy
Fees are payable prior to commencement of the course.
If the College cancels a course, students will be entitled to a full refund. Where a student withdraws prior to commencement, Course fees will be refunded less a 15% administration levy.
Once a program has commenced no refund is available except in cases of extreme personal hardship or medical reasons.
Student Handbook
All enrolled students will be provided with a Students Handbook, which provides detailed information relating to study at Ignite Education. Copies of the handbook are available from the College reception for prospective students to review prior to enrolment.

Uniforms
A complete industry standard uniform is to be worn at all times. Generally this is considered to be:
* black trousers, slacks or a skirt * a white shirt or blouse * black leather enclosed footwear (no joggers)
